Well done, GGH.

Those scores are posted on the ‘Season VIII’ post, currently near the top of page 2 of this forum.

It was the second time around for ‘Midnight’s Another Day’.

It won a Silver (lost on a countback to ‘Lay Down Burden’ in an all-Brian week) in Week 41 of Season I (Deborah O’Neill).

Its score that week was 50 points and 27.78% from 18 voters.

This week it was 69 and 34.50 from 20 voters.

Six songs from That Lucky Old Sun have been used in the Battle.

The record:

Mexican Girl / Cinco de Mayo (a Gold in Week 38 of Season II - Cantina Margarita),

Oxygen to the Brain (a Gold in Week 21 of Season VII, 10th in Gold Play-Off - Cantina Margarita),

Midnight's Another Day (a Silver in Week 41 of Season I - Deborah O'Neill; a Gold in Week 24 of Season VIII - GGH),

Southern California (a Gold in Week 31 of Season I - Tom Tobben),

I'm into Something Good (a Bronze in Week 27 of Season V - Deb#1),

Just Like Me and You (a Silver in Week 39 of Season V - Larry Franz)

‘Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey’ is the first entry for the act credited as Paul & Linda McCartney.

It’s the 41st selection for an act containing Paul McCartney – this, five solo, four with Wings, one with Rihanna & Kanye West, and 30 with the Beatles. (See summaries at end of Weeks 12 & 18 for more details.)

It’s the second time around for ’25 of 6 to 4’.

It won a Silver in Week 41 of Season VI.

Its score that week was 56.5 and 25.68% from 22 voters.

This week it scored 45.5 and 22.75 from 20 voters.

It was the 10th entry for Chicago.

Their results have been:

Questions 67 & 68 (a Tin in Week 19 of Season I - Cynthia D Hood),
Wishing You Were Here (a Silver in Week 44 of Season I - Cynthia D Hood),
Wishing You Were Here (a Gold in Week 28 of Season II - Andrew G. Doe),
Beginnings (a Silver in Week 45 of Season II, 6th in Silver Play-Off - Tom Tobben),
Dialogue (Part I & II) (a Tin in Week 8 of Season V - Popeye (not the sailor)),
Saturday in the Park (a Silver in Week 24 of Season V - Cindy Hood),
25 or 6 to 4 (a Silver in Week 41 of Season VI - Al Forsyth),
Colour My World (a Tin in Week 3 of Season VII - Al Forsyth),
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! (a Tin in Week 43 of Season VII - Lee Marshall),
25 or 6 to 4 (a Bronze in Week 24 of Season VIII - GGH)

It was also the second time around for ‘Kodachrome’.

It won a Bronze in Week 16 of Season VI (Cindy Hood).

Its score that week was 43.5 and 19.77% from 22 voters.

This week it scored 34.5 and 17.25 from 20 voters.

It was the fifth solo entry for Paul Simon.

His record:

Slip Slidin’ Away (a Bronze in Week 22 of Season II - Deborah O’Neill),
Dazzling Blue (a Silver in Week 4 of Season III - Deb#1),
Slip Slidin’ Away (a Silver in Week 13 of Season III - Michael F. Becher),
Kodachrome (a Bronze in Week 16 of Season VI - Cindy Hood),
Kodachrome (a Tin in Week 24 of Season VIII - GGH)

He has yet to make a play-off.

His record with Art Garfunkel is much better.

Their record:

Bridge Over Troubled Water (a Silver in Week 27 of Season I, 4th in the Silver Play-Off - Lisa Graham),

The Sound of Silence (a Gold in Week 45 of Season III, 2nd in Preliminary Final, 6th in Gold Play-Off - Al Forsyth),

Homeward Bound (a Silver in Week 17 of Season V, 2nd in Silver Play-Off, 7th in Preliminary Final - D.A.N),

I Am a Rock (a Gold in Week 39 of Season VII - t Bedford),

Bridge Over Troubled Water (a Silver in Week 11 of Season VIII - t Bedford)

Outside of the Beach Boys and the Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel and Roy Orbison (along with Brian himself) have been the most successful acts in the Battle.

With the third highest points and fifth highest percentage just past the half-way mark of the season, ‘Midnight’s Another Day’ is in the ballpark of making play-offs.
