With Darren's huge leap in numbers, it looks like we're headed back to ground zero:

Gold  - 10.cc (I saw them live in Liverpool around the time of this album)
Silver  - Brian (He's singing this on his new tour)
Bronze - Maroon 5
Tin - White Stripes

My usual answer to the question "How are you Pete" is "I'm feeling 22" (which often gets some puzzled looks), but I really love this song.....(plus it was the number of the house I grew up in!)

Thanks for the contributions so far.

Darren escalated the situation with a very specific number of tears, but I certainly wouldn't call four million and counting beyond our capabilities...

Anyway, thanks Tom, for bringing us back to earth again.  It takes you sensible types!

Pete, nothing wrong with your song choice.  I like that you take the time to listen to new stuff with open ears.  Very upbeat song.

t and Larry, excellent contributions, and thanks for your votes Larry.

Where did jerry go?  He might come back.

Speaking of new, I quite like some of the stuff The Weeknd is bringing out.

And because even I can't take myself seriously, here is a number one smash hit in NZ from 1983.  I remember it very well.   If you do nothing else of interest today, make sure you assault your ears with this little ditty.

If you thought we were weird down here before...

Currently loving the Weeknd's album and plan to feature him in my week, unless someone chooses the same track before me.

Bonnie,

Playing the numbers game.

Gold - Brian Wilson - One of the best songs (IMO) from Brian's very good NPP album last year.

Silver - The White Stripes - I'm not a huge fan of these guys, but this song is alright.  Plus, I can't help but think of the 2012 Super Bowl XLVII Baltimore Ravens when I hear it.  To this day, the riff gets fans at Orioles and Ravens games chanting away.

Bronze - 10CC

Tin - Maroon 5 - Bleh.

Here are some more number songs.  The first is obvious, the title track to Iron Maiden's breakthrough album The Number of the Beast

Early Blue Oyster Cult with 7 Screaming Diz Busters

The Doors with Five to One

From Black Sabbath's lone album with Ian Gillan on vox, Zero the Hero

On the lighter side, with summer approaching in the US, Jimmy Buffett with One Particular Harbor

and my favorite Buffett song, A Pirate Looks at 40

If you want to contribute songs, all I ask is that you post a song with a name (or band name) that is a higher number than the one before.

However, at any time somebody can post a "zero" or "one" song to bring us back to the start.

Like I'm doing now: Nilsson, "One", 1968
