Sorry, I cannot see the link, Lee.  My work bans such things.  Could someone tell me what 'fantasy foolishness' did the boys want to move away from?

By comparison...'love you' has absolutely NO passion or depth.  It's merely John Thompson's 'Teaching Little Fingers to Play'. Carl and the Passions is for adults.

Lee -- I'd post "I Am a Child", but Neil Percival Young and the rest of Buffalo Springfield are off topic this week. [smile]

Two Wilsons:

Cassandra Wilson covers Neil: "Harvest Moon" (music begins 12 seconds in)

Gretchen Wilson covers Van Morrison: "Into the Mystic"

Yeah, thanks for reminding me, Larry.

Lee also doesn't like Johnny Carson and dare I say it?  The entire solar system!

Oh, well.  You gotta admit that this site is very infectious.  Yesterday, over and over in my brain was

'please don't look my way, when you see me on the street, we will still be strangers when we meet.'

Today, it's 'Blue eyes, blonde hair, lips like a movie star...!'

Thanks Lee and DAN for your votes.

Lee, I purposely used two covers, and I'm glad to see another fan of "Carl (okay Blondie) And The Passions".

John B, tap the mic - if you hear a hollow ring, it's probably on!

Larry, here it is anyway.

My Wilson votes for you bonnie.

Gold: Sound of Free - Dennis Wilson - Dennis at his finest. Sounds like it could have been on Sunflower.

Silver: Here She Comes - Carl & The Passions - Count me in as being a fan of this album!

Bronze: Ain't Necessarily So - Brian Wilson - Brian's coolest solo album.

Tin: Doctor My Eyes - Wilson Phillips - I prefer Jackson's version.

A Carl song.

Somehow, the week just wouldn't be complete without a cliip like this, would it?:

GOLD -- Denny, The Sounds of Free -- A little more up and spirited than a some of the broody, drearier stuff from his solo era.

SILVER -- The Poor L'il Rich Girls(Dare I say that?), Doctor My Eyes -- I'd agree it seems more spirited (oh, there's that word again) with more "oomph!" than Jackson Browne's delivery.

BRONZE -- Brian, It Ain't Necessarily So -- Nicely done, thought provoking lyrics.

TIN -- Carl & The Passions, Here She Comes -- I'll second Larry's "Meh". They succeed at sounding typically early 70s, but nothing outstanding or memorable for my senses.

I've never been big on this Bryan, but I'll toss him in since no one else has yet with his pseudo-Blue Oyster Cult hit:

Another Denny I've liked is Denny Doherty, the Canadian quarter of The Mamas & Papas. Here's an alt version of a hit:

(According to the SongFacts site, his co-writer credit was more to do with -- ahem -- inspiring John Phillips to write it than with Denny actually writing some of it). [rolleyes]

Thanks, bonnie!
