Voting for week 31 is now closed.

I have the later voters included: Deb, Gracie, DAN, Paul, Verden and mine.

Thanks to all who voted this week!

Here are the preliminary tallies for September, pending Darren's approval:

September - Earth, Wind & Fire.
Gold: 9, Silver: 4, Bronze:  3, Tin/Pewter: 3 = 57 pts.

Wake Me Up When September Ends.
Gold: 6, Silver: 5, Bronze: 3, Tin/Pewter: 5 = 50 pts.

September Morn - Neil Diamond.
Gold: 2, Silver: 5, Bronze: 7, Tin/Pewter: 5 = 42 pts.

Beach Boys - Keeping the Summer Alive.
Gold: 2, Silver: 5, Bronze: 6, Tin/Pewter: 6 = 41 pts.

Awww... another week for the Boys in last place.  What a shame..

19 voters = 190 overall pts.

Well done, Cindy.

Those scores are in the book.

It was the second time around for ‘September’ by Earth, Wind & Fire.

It was the Tin recipient in Jo McGuire’s Week 10 of Season V, behind ‘If I Fell’ (The Beatles) (finished 5th in Gold Play-Off), ‘The Warmth of the Sun’ (The Beach Boys) (finished 2nd in Gold Play-Off, after coming 1st in both the Silver Play-Off and the Preliminary Final) and ‘Build Me Up Buttercup’ (The Foundations).

Its score that week was a low 34 points and 15.45%.

Compare that with this week’s 57 and 30.00%.

It becomes the third song to win both Gold and Tin in separate weeks here, after ‘I Got You Babe’ (Sonny & Cher) and ‘Leader of the Pack’ (The Shangri-Las).

‘Keepin’ the Summer Alive’ is only the second track from the album of the same name to be used.

The other, ‘Goin’ On’, won a Bronze in Week 21 of Season III, and finished 7th in the Bronze Play-Off (Peter Simpson).

‘Keepin’ the Summer Alive’ looks likely for this year’s Tin Play-Off.

OK, folks.  It's official!

Thanks to all who voted in this contest and to Darren and company for their help, too.

Cindy

P.S.  I was listening to the radio on Sunday morning and they were doing an oldies show.  They played What You Do To Me and I couldn't believe my ears.  Sadly, it was the original artist's song and not Carl's.

Belatedly, don't know why this is just occurring to me now, but the Green Day mention reminds me of my very favorite group from Beijing that sounds kind of like Green Day: Reflector.

Just wondering if Larry had heard/seen the song/video 'Wan An, Beijing' ---which has an amazing and great video that captures that exciting and yes, romantic city quite well.  The two characters of 'late' and 'peace' form the idiom 'Good Night' the same way early and peace means 'good morning.'  a LOT of things happen in this song (and in that city) before they finally get to say 'good night'.  !   What is happening?  The future is being created.

I should add that the group--Reflector, also has a Brian connection: a cover (in English) of 'You are My Sunshine' that would make Green Day proud...
