Before this week's battle gets away, perhaps some of you will remember this humorous use of Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters' classic version of "Meli Kalikimaka" from Chevy Chase's (aka Clark Griswold) late-night fantasy scene in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, one of my all-time favorite Christmas movies:

Yes, Tom.  That is probably where I first heard the song and we've been watching that movie every Christmas.  Our area radio stations started playing that one about 4 years ago during the Christmas season.

Thank all of you for getting in this busy Christmas week to cast your votes.  Christmas week is always very busy for me, too.  I usually go away to visit the folks in WV for the holidays, but this year we stayed home.  Though I love visiting family at Christmas, I really hate being away from my cats.  My mom passed away last February and my Dad is losing his eyesight and couldn't look after my mom's 2 cats, so they are now with me.  They just came here the first of December.  But, it's nice to be able to relax at home for Christmas.

I hope that you all had a very happy Christmas or Hanukkah, spent with family and friends.  Now, onto New Year's and Deb's final battle of 2016!

Cindy

Well done, Cindy.

This was the second entry for Burl Ives.

He now has a Gold to go along with the Tin with the most Tin votes ever in a week (18, but it also got 3 Golds).

His record:

Mary Ann Regrets (a Tin in Week 12 of Season V - Darren J. Ray),
Holly Jolly Christmas (a Gold in Week 44 of Season VII - Cindy Hood)

It was the lowest points for a Gold winner (47) since Week 11 of Season IV (Deb#1) when ‘Samba Pa Ti’ (Santana) scored just 45 points (from 17 voters).

This was the first entry for Carnie & Wendy Wilson as a duo.

Wilson Phillips has had two entries – also Silvers – ‘Hold On’ (Week 3, Season V - Al Forsyth) and ‘Doctor My Eyes’ (Week 27, Season VII - bonnie bella).

It’s the second entry for Jimmy Buffett.

His record now:

Margaritaville (a Silver in Week 24 of Season II - Cynthia D. Hood),
Mele Kalikimaka (a Bronze in Week 44 of Season VII - Cindy Hood)

It was the lowest points for a Bronze song (29.5) since Week 44 of Season III (paul g adsett) when ‘Five Feet High and Rising’ (Johnny Cash) also scored 29.5 points (and the same percentage of 19.67% from, again, 15 voters).

Previous to that, ‘Walk Away Renee’ (Rickie Lee Jones) had scored 26 points in Week 11 of Season III (Al Forsyth).
