Here's one to dance to, from 1984, by some Cleveland punks...the "et al" in the uploaders credits refers to drummer Robb Harpy, & sax player Marianne Schiebli. He also doesn't credit Paul as guitarist or Crystal as bassist. On the LP sleeve & label it was listed as:
F.A.L.D. - The Adults

A very impressive live act, too.

One more tribute to the late queen of disco dancing, Donna Summer (1948-2012), with her classic "On The Radio":

Gotcha votes, DAN, The Egg, Tom T., Bonnie and David.  Thank you!

Tom, It really irks me to see a live BB's video with those dancing girls on the stage.  I'm really happy that they stopped doing that.  I guess Mike has always loved the pretty girls though.

Bonnie, You've got a hilarious way of saying things!  ..."falling in love to the rhythm of the ceiling fan - down in Kokomo".  I'll bet JT can't dance like that anymore, but I'm wondering if he can still strut like that.

I've been binge watching Grey's Anatomy lately and saw this the other night.  Fits right in with this week's dance theme too, although I wouldn't want them dancing around the OR if I was the patient on the table.
Atomic Dog's Bow Wow Wow Yippy Yo Yippy Yay.

That reminds me.. I believe I thought it was "tropical cake melting in your hand".  Well, it made sense at the time.  I was 11.

A few Aussies and Scientologists featuring this week.

Dan, don't start me on my favourite topic ... misheard lyrics!  You'll bring a week on.  And don't think I haven't done it before ... [sneaky]

Bonnie, here's a misheard lyric:  Give me the Beach Boys and soothe my soul.  I want to get lost in your rock and roll and drift away.

Voting is now closed.  Be back in a bit to post the results.

Here are the results:

GOLD:  Kokomo/Beach Boys!
Gold: 5; Silver 6; Bronze 5; Tin/Pewter 0 = 48 pts.

A tie for Silver:

SILVER:  Say Hey!  I Love You/Michael Franti.
Gold 5;  Silver 4;  Bronze 3; Tin/Pewter 4 = 42 pts.

SILVER (too):  Happy/Pharrell Williams.
Gold: 5;  Silver 3; Bronze 5;  Tin/Pewter 3 = 42 pts.

TIN/PEWTER:  You're The One That I Want/JT & ONJ.
Gold 1;  Silver 3;  Bronze 3;  Tin/Pewter 9 = 28 pts.

We had 16 voters = 160 overall points.

This is the second go round for Kokomo and I do believe it won the gold last time, too.  Darren can verify.

Pharrell Williams and Michael Franti did very well in this battle, I must say!

Week 27 will be up soon.

Thanks for your participation in last week's contest.  Have a great week and be careful if you're out in the solar eclipse today.

Cindy

Cindy,
Here in the US, at least, lots of great music for today:  "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Any More"..."Ain't No Sunshine"..."It's A Total Eclipse of the Heart"..."Blinded by The Light"..."Sunshine (Go Away Today)"..."Black Hole Sun"..."I Can See Clearly Now"..."Doctor My Eyes"..."Eyesight to The Blind"..."Dark Side of the Moon"..."Moonshadow"..."Out of the Darkness"..."Moondance"..."Here Comes The Sun"..."Blister in the Sun"

Oh yeah, also "The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades"!

etc!

Well done, Cindy.

Those scores are in the book, currently sitting near the top of page 2 of this forum.

It was the second appearance for ‘Kokomo’, the second time you’ve selected it and, yes, its second Gold.

Week 24 of Season II saw this result:

Gold - Kokomo (The Beach Boys - 1988) (46)
Silver - Margaritaville (Jimmy Buffett - 1977) (44)
Bronze - White Sandy Beach of Hawaii (Israel Kamakawiwo'ole - 1993) (26)
Tin - Key Largo (Bertie Higgins - 1981) (24)
(Cynthia D. Hood)

Its scores of 46 points and 32.86% from 14 voters back in Season II is comparable to its 48 and 30.00 from 16 voters this time.

Of the seven new tracks on Still Cruisin’, only three have been used in the Battle.

‘Kokomo’ is the only one of the three not to make play-offs yet, although the other two were Tins and fared poorly in finals.

The record:

Somewhere Near Japan (a Tin in Week 26 of Season VI, 8th in Tin Play-Off - Darren J. Ray),

Kokomo (a Gold in Week 24 of Season II - Cynthia D. Hood; a Gold in Week 26 of Season VIII - Cindy Hood),

Make It Big (a Tin in Week 30 of Season III, 10th in Tin Play-Off - Verden McCutcheon)

With the 15th highest points total for a Bronze so far this year but highest percentage (26.25% of the vote, partly due to the Grease track’s unpopularity this week), ‘Happy’ is a chance of making its play-off.
