Cindy, re: your 'Garth' clip -

This video contains content from SME, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds.

Can someone please tell me if it’s really Garth Brooks?

I doubt it is.

Doesn't work here in S.W. Ontario, Canada either Darren.  Garth remains a myth.  If he isn't on-line he doesn't really and truly exist.  He's a figment...not a Wondermint.

It looks like another winning week for Brian and the guys.

Gold -- The Beach Boys -- Another great one. Maybe Denny would've gotten more leads if Mike had taken up the cowbell.

Silver -- Sugar Ray -- Nice.

Bronze -- Steely Dan -- Not bad.

Tin -- Murray Head -- No thanks.

Of course, when it's summer, it's winter for somebody else. (There are actually people who live upside down.)

The Fleetwoods, "They Tell Me It's Summer"

Lana Del Rey, "Summertime Sadness"

I took down the Garth Brooks clip.  I didn't realize until after I posted it that the actual song isn't on the clip.

I love your story Cindy! That was a really clever theme idea. You picked a very wide array of songs too. Here are my votes...

GOLD: Girls on the Beach by the Beach Boys
This song wins by light years. Not just a lot, more like a lot, A LOT. This is one of the prettiest Beach Boys ballads ever. I looooooooove it!!!

SILVER: Black Cow by Steely Dan
I like the group but I'm not crazy about the tune. They're a really great band though. When you put a bunch of session musicians together, it creates something pretty cool.

BRONZE: One Night in Bangkok by Murry Head
More like Murry should be dead. Ugh. It was one if those things that was so bad it was funny though. At least I got a laugh.

TIN: Whatever that song was (tried to forget it) by Sugar Gay
I have no words.

If it sings like Garth and looks like Garth, then it's most likely Garth Brooks.

Here's another showing him at a tribute to Dale Earnhardt, Sr. in person, singing the same song, The Dance.

Nope...Doesn't work.  It's NOT streaming.  No such thing as Garth Brooks.  That said then...Doubtful there was ever a Greg Lake.  No Billy Ocean.  Johnny Rivers?  Nope.  No chance then either that there has ever been a Fantastic Johnny Sea.  [C...maybe]  AND obviously...NO Soupy Sales.  Brian Poole?  Not with the Tremeloes after all.  And for the French?  No Nick Lowe. [ C'est L'eau]  Muddy Waters?  Surely you jest?  Dennis Coffey?  Try and pour a cuppa THAT.  Or some Booker TeaMy Goodness no.  Wet Willie?  Only behind the ears.  Richie Blackmore?  Deep Purple-I suppose so.  BUT ...  RAINbow-No.  Hank Snow?  In Hell maybe...but NOT here.

In Canada though...We may not have any on-line evidence of there being a Garth Brooks but we did have an International Olympic Committee [IOC] 'honcho' named Dick Trickle...and you can look THAT up...on-line.

No wait...That's Dick Pound...Dick Trickle...was an American race car driver and we don't have him anymore either.  I quit...my options have all dried up.

Cindy, as summer fades you come up with a cool and clever story line AND I can vote on this one≥

Gold - I can't let this go by - Girl's On The Beach - gets it. It fits the All Summer Long album all too perfectly.  The kind of Surfer Girl gone more Freshman-like and of course the amazing half step modulation comes in perfectly.  Always, always loved this one.  Still do.

Silver - a VERY close one btw goes to The Dan.  One of the GREAT albums of all time and the song which gets it all going:

I almost went with the Gold here but in the end couldn't.
https://www.allaboutjazz.com/that-grand-dan-sound-why-everyone-knows-steely-dan-when-they-hear-them-by-eric-pettine.php

So the bronze I'll go with Sugar Ray and the Murray's night in Bangkok (those crazy 80's) has to get the tin.

Good one, Cindy.

Thanks for your votes and comments, Al.  I read the first article.  I had no idea that Aja was such a success, but I know I loved it and wore out 3 tapes of it.  It's still a fave album for me even now.  I think I got hooked on 'My Old School' and have been a fan ever since.

Ha - I'm NEVER going back to my old school.  Okay, Aja is a headphones alert album.  Ugh - tapes?  I added something cool with GOTB above - check it!  ^  It really has the beginning of the Four Freshmen right away.

And Cindy, I HAD to restate my vote above - please check/verify.  There isn't a tie from me this week.

Cindy, that 'Garth Brooks' clip you posted at #21 - as DAN noted, that's not Garth Brooks singing.

He doesn't allow his original recordings on YouTube or Spotify.

As for the second Dale Earnhardt tribute, it's blocked by Sony Music here. If it's truly Garth, my guess is it's live(?)

Lee, that link wouldn't work - 'Bad URL'.

Jenny, I'm glad that you enjoyed my tall tale.  LOL!

DJR, I'm checking on YouTube about that Garth Brooks video.  It sounds exactly like Garth singing and just like the other two videos of that same song, but is probably put up by somebody's own video.

Al - The tapes I mentioned was long ago, back in the dark ages where there was such a thing as the 8-track tape - the worst invention there ever was.  I played Aja so much in my car, that I went through 3 tapes of it.  Kept wearing them out.
