been stuck in a tailback on a30 for over an hour
(+ a slow diversion)
down here in deepest, farthest cornwall.
so plenty of time to consider as weistwn to radio 6 music.
cue bw's 'magic transistor radio' fairytale.
i don't recall the first records i heard on the radio,
but certainly remember listening to medium wave (am radio) moving in and out of earshot,
wavering and distorting with atmospherics
as you tune into night time radio luxemburg,
head under the bedlothes with your transistor radio
( the only channel you were could pick up pop
before there pirate radio stations arrived in the 60's).
so, here's van morrison's recollections of this:

on the same phenomenomenom;

(bleaker, impressionistic):

The late 80's version of Nanci.  She SAVED me through the late 80's.  Thank you, Austin, Texas.

I saw THIS tour:

These guys KNEW the radio:

Day 3 of the battle and so far, I have Kds, Lee, Stkilda4ever, tBedford, Larry, Al, Darren and John B.  Your votes are in!

Darren, Now I know why you wanted me to keep the Buggles in instead of another choice.  Good story!

I'm getting some surprises in the votes so far.  They're kind of all over the place.  I like that - it keeps the suspense up.

Hi Cindy.

I immediately thought of Donna Summer, and worse, then this song got stuck in my head!

Bic Runga.

Cindy, I'm just thankful you didn't remove it to include that rubbish song you've used before that was even beaten by that lousy babysitter Gary Glitter!

The Now and Then med - "when I was young I'd listen to the radio".  The Beach Boys' Fun, Fun, Fun was on the album but the live version would intersperse with Little Honda. Of course DMC was also on it:

I saw/heard it live in 74.
