I think Jack Rieley preferred Zappa to the Monkees... That was the kind of preference he parlayed into so many Pulitzer prizes I think it was...

Then one day, perhaps after Jack was nominated for a Nobel Prize, it came to pass that Yawn Weiner inducted Zappa into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame (on behalf of musicians with facial hair all over the world).

With all the weirdness this week, in both virtual reality and real reality, I'm considering a theme for week 23 (beginning August 1st or thereabouts), that will evoke expressions like "usual", "standard", "common", "ordinary" and "familiar". Perhaps that will have a calming influence here, there and everywhere.

If anyone has a suggestion, please pass it along. I'm having trouble deciding.

Not many of those bad episodes involved humor though, did they Larry?

How about we ask Andy Paley to rewrite 'Don't Be a Jerk (It's Christmas)' for us?

The lines could stay basically the same:

'Be nice to babies and animals and old folks too,
don't shoot them because they don't shoot YOU..'

Somehow I've never heard that one before. Maybe "Don't Be a Jerk (It's a Day of the Week)".

Now that the kids are in their 20s, I kind of miss SpongeBob.

Happy Birthday, Verden! Wishing you all the best - and nothing but the best! [cool]

Larry - Does this fit the bill for your "usual", "standard", "common", "ordinary" and "familiar" concept? At least title-wise?:

Well done, Tom.

The scores are in that book called ‘Season VII’, now on page 2 of this forum.

It is the seventh entry and second Gold for The Monkees.

Their record:

I'm a Believer (a Bronze in Week 9 of Season I, 6th in Bronze Play-Off - Pete Simpson),
Pleasant Valley Sunday (a Silver in Week 40 of Season II - Teenage Symphony),
You're So Good to Me (a Tin in Week 41 of Season III - Kevin Witts),
Daydream Believer (a Bronze in Week 2 of Season IV - Cindy Hood),
Zilch (a Bronze in Week 7 of Season IV - Teenage Symphony),
Last Train to Clarksville (a Gold in Week 40 of Season VI - Lisa G/TS),
Randy Scouse Git (a Gold in Week 22 of Season VII - Tom Tobben)

They’ve only made play-offs once and this won’t change unless ‘Whip It’ finishes in the top two of the Silver Play-Off which it looks bound for.

‘She’s Goin’ Bald’ is the fourth track from Smiley Smile to be selected.

Its mixed record:

Heroes and Villains (a Gold in Week 6 of Season I, 3rd - Season Bronze - in Gold Play-Off, 11th in the Ultimate Battle - t Bedford),
Good Vibrations (a Gold in Week 19 of Season I, 1st - Season Gold - in Gold Play-Off, 2nd in the Ultimate Battle - Cynthia D Hood),
Little Pad (a Tin in Week 17 of Season V - D.A.N),
She’s Goin’ Bald (a Bronze in Week 22 of Season VII - Tom Tobben)

As Tom says, we now break for a week.

Larry will continue with Week 24 next Monday.

Lisa -- Ringo's "La De Da" would definitely fit but we'd have to agree on the spelling. I thought it's "La Di Da" and whichever Spanish-speaker wrote this caption has a whole other idea.
