I hope this happens. He wouldn't have the right to call himself 'Sir' if it did (some of us would probably do so in private though!)

I wonder if the knighthood angle was the reporter's suggestion.

what a load of utter cobblers!
mind you, i didn't read all the article
'cos i refused the stupid, calculating website access to my details
and there was no way out of not accepting their intrusiveness,
so, beware, if you deign to read.
plus, i'm not enamoured with having a duchess of sussex hoisted upon me.
as a native of sussex, i resent suddenly being regarded as a serf,
subservient to some come-lately princess.
apart from all that,
bw deserves accolades from all over / everywhere!

Dare I respond with 'Serf's Up'? Or perhaps Serf's Uprising would be better as you refuse to become one....

Didn't we fight a war against this kind of BS back in 1776?

I was just reporting an article! I didn't suggest Brian try to get a knighthood. Now maybe it's BS as Paul claims but I remember reading how when Brian was invited to Party at the Palace it reduced him to tears. He didn't refuse on the grounds that he didn't believe in monarchy! For those who haven't read it,. Brian allegedly said that the Queen liked the Beach Boys' song 'California Girls'.  I've heard that rumour before.

ah, ang,
rise not to the provocation of riff raff,
ne'er-do-wells,
upstart crows
or hoi polloi!
we must maintain decorum and inner integrity
in the face of indecorous rabble rousers!

england expects,
stiff upper lip and all that,
what...
more tea, vicar?

It's only honorary anyway in the case of those who're not UK 'subjects' (don't like that word with it's connotations of subjection!). It usually seems to be awarded based on either doing some good for the country (in the case of British people) or charitable work.

Suddenly, somehow, this morning...THIS seemed sort of appropriate.  [biggrin]  [in a round-about kinda way.]
