Brian Wilson released July 12, 1988.

This was the album that got me into BW in the first place. I still LOVE it to this day.
Though I now have an autographed CD and vinyl copy, I still treasure my well worn tape cassette!

Wonderful memories. Showed he still had the talent. Love & Mercy and Meltaway are songs I'm always humming. Let it shine is always a treat to hear. Nice autographs you have there!

Kind of the height of the Landy period - I bought it on release. Wasn't sure about it, BUT it was the return of Brian.

He was back! They just took down my fave video of this. Can't you simply imagine "The Boys" doing this?

Despite the late-80's "time capsule" production style that truly sticks out like a sore thumb; Brian's spirit and will to survive emanates from the music. What remains is the portrait of a middle-aged musical auteur who made it through the storms of fame and all of its trappings.

Unbeknownst to listeners at the time, Brian was still under the Svengali-like control of Eugene Landy. Knowing that in hindsight gives the songs even more poignancy, considering the atmosphere in which the music was created.

"Brian Wilson" remains (I think) his best solo release; aside from "SMiLE", and is a reminder of the flashes of seemingly effortless talents of its creator.

My favorite track:

I treasure this album.  When it first came out, I compared it to records the Beach Boys were releasing:  no contest.  "Kokomo"?  "Still  Cruising"?  Forget about it!
