Silvana,  No, no - coming out sometime THIS year!  They are keeping things very quiet about it now.  It should be REALLY good with the cast of people on it.

And welcome back in!

The cover looks great.
The only thing that worries me, is that it'll be more of a 'others
talk about Brian Wilson' than it more it be ABOUT Brian Wilson.
A lot of documentaries are turning into 'talking heads' talking about than
actual interactions with the artist or companions in question.
Do we need another documentary on what other artists think about Brian?

Rick,

From what was being posted in December, when things were really breaking about this and this is Brent Wilson talking about his film:
“So we rented a car and we rigged it up, kind of ‘Carpool Karaoke’ style, with 4K cameras and microphones in the car, so that they didn’t have to wear a lavalier mic and didn’t have operators in the car,” Wilson says. “Jason and Brian would just drive around for six, seven, eight hours a day, for weeks, trying to get Brian to open up and talk freely. And it worked brilliantly, because I’ve never seen Brian in any interview or any documentary where he’s been this honest.”

“Seventy-five percent of what is in the film is Brian,” Wilson says. The director also expressed that many of the previous film efforts never captured Wilson’s later years.

“We all really felt that Brian is living this really remarkable third act in his life, that as far as I can think of very few artists get to do,” Wilson explains. “I was intrigued by the fact that here Brian was doing something at the age of 75 that he didn’t have the courage to do at 25, which was touring.”

The new film boasts over 90 hours of new footage of the artist/producer and icon discussing his life and working in the studio, as well as new interviews with famous fans including Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Jim James and Nick Jonas.

And I do think that we need to hear from important artists talking about Brian to give it perspective.

And that's why this one's got great potential, Al!  Jason Fine has built a genuine relationship/friendship with Brian over the years...AND we have Melinda and Jean Sievers behind this.

My biggest hope is to see a genuine spotlight on his work since the '90s - a spotlight that truly ignites the exposure that this music deserves.  Everything from The Paley Sessions, That Lucky Old Sun, No Pier Pressure, and more!

Doug,

It appears that they want to get this right with all of the footage that they have. Wondering if it coordinates with the summer tour?

I don't know if I've seen Streetlight Harmonies

I'll have to check it out.

The interviews for this even got long:

I'm a skeptic, but it's going to be hard to beat some of the great ones:
'american band', 'endless harmony', 'beautiful dreamer', making of 'lucky ol sun',
'songwriter', the A&E Biography, 'imagination' even 'stars and stripes.
I hope it's of that level of quality.
We already know what other musicians think, I just hope their focus isn't on that.
Brian is far more interesting and he has so many sides to him.
Will be great to see a promo to set the stage of all of this.

Brent Wilson met Brian during this Streetlight Harmonies film, which I really want to see now.  Jason Fine seems to be a person who has connected with Brian over the years, writing for Rolling Stone, so it appears as though it's an excellent team to really do this right!
This was a few years back, but you get the feel that they connect: youtube.com/watch?v=0KMi5isqNBw

Good to see that they are taking their time with this and keeping it under wraps until it's ready to be announced.

Worth it to hear Bob Gaudio talk alone.
