I stopped into Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh on my way home from the Christmas show in Cleveland. From one day to another the show can change. I thought the show in Pittsburgh was one of the strongest I have seen this fall. The band was tight and far more sure-footed with the new Christmas music. It’s really beginning to look and feel a lot like Christmas up there on stage. Brian seems stronger, too. Singing more and stronger. Talking a bit. The band, the sound, the lights…the show is really crystallizing. I love when the wreaths change colors in concert with the music!
It’s nice to see the band getting into the holiday spirit. I’ve seen Bob Lizik wearing Christmas trees, Darian wearing snowflakes, and Paul in a holiday scarf. Gary Griffin takes it to a whole new level, though, with his Santa blazer. He’s even attracted his own little groupie!
I wish I could go on to see more of these shows but I have a few Santa errands of my own to run. As Christmas gets nearer and dearer, I believe the show will just keep getting better. Those seeing it are in for a real treat.
The snow was beginning to stick on the turnpike…chances for a white Christmas are pretty good here.
