A great big Thank You to Brian, Al, Blondie, and the Brian Wilson Band for pumping me up for Christmas last night. And now, live on memory card from the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis, "Little Saint Nick" opens the show.

As it should open up the Holiday Tour. A classic.

We're a few days behind you seeing/hearing the show.

Here is another song from the opening night of Christmas Tour 2018.  Blondie and Al do the primary vocals for "Merry Christmas Baby."

gung ho ho ho, indeed!
looking forward to catching a couple of these shows,
this looks what promises to be a fun collision
'twixt beautifully rehearsed precision
and raucous go-for-it-ness,
hellbent in a sleighride...

cheers

"Christmas Time Is Here Again" was recorded October-November 1977 when The Beach Boys were recording at MIU University in Fairfield, IA.  It was not released until the 1998 album "Ultimate Christmas".  While at MIU the MIU Album was recorded and released in 1978.  It used the same instrumental track as the Buddy Holly cover of "Peggy Sue".  Al re-wrote the lyrics and sang the lead vocal.  Here is the live performance of "Christmas Time Is Here Again" from Minneapolis.

There is quite a review from the Tribunal I believe. The reviewer basically just hacks Brian for his appearance of being lackluster, just not very cool to go at a legend as if it his first concert and ignoring all the physical limitations Brian has at this point in time.

There will always be critics/reviewers who don't get it.  I have been a Beach Boys and Brian Wilson fan since 1962.  Since then, there have been various periods in which their recordings and performances have  not been considered "cool".  But that did not matter to me and, I suspect, lots of other people.  And artists in their 20's become artists in their 70's and beyond.  I am grateful that Brian is still around and willing to come out on these tours.  I can see it is not easy for him to do so, but I admire his willpower and devotion to his music and his fans.
Now another video from Minneapolis.  The Chuck Berry classic "Run Rudolph Run" with lead vocal by Blondie Chaplin.

The 1977 Iowa sessions: http://www.bellagio10452.com/gigs77.htmlhttp://

"Christmas Time Is Here Again" uses the same track as "Peggy Sue", recorded in early 1976 during the 15 Big Ones sessions. Not sure where Alan's vocals and the seasonal overdubs were recorded - probably MIU but there seems to be no documentary evidence.

The documentation I relied upon regarding "Christmas Time Is Here Again"   came with the "Ultimate Christmas" collection released in 1998.

During the afternoon sound check in Minneapolis Rob Bonfiglio was the lead vocalist on "White Christmas".  Well done!

NOTE:  The link to "White Christmas" that first appeared here expired.  A new link appears below.

Thanks Joel for posting! I live in Sweden so it's great to be able to watch some of the show here (however WC unfortunately not available, login comes up). Great stuff from Al and Blondie (especially RRR). Worried about Brian's health.
But IF he does another tour I hope it will be a Love You tour... :)

You are very welcome.  Merry Christmas from the USA! Brian seems to be strong and determined as ever although he does have some challenges.  The link I originally posted expired.  Here is a new link for "White Christmas" and a photo from the sound check.

Joel - You are bringing the Christmas Spirit to all with these posts!  There are too many fans that won't get a chance to see this Holiday tour, so those videos are gold.

Merry Christmas to you.
