I am sorry but that is an impossible question for me to answer! Too many greats! Here is a few of mine:   Warmth of the Sun....God Only Knows.....Goin on....Don't Worry Baby....With Me Tonight...  The first song that I remember falling in love with when I was younger was Good Vibrations. That is just a small start to the long list!![love][wave]

I have approximately 35...or so...favourite Brian/Beach Boys songs and [likely] 9 or 10 albums.  To try and pick but 1 'pretzelizes' my brain. [eek]

probably "Wouldn't It Be Nice", with "Good Vibrations", "Don't Worry Baby" and "Surf's Up" close behind.

Reflecting what might be other people's favorites, Spotify lists these as the most played songs by the Beach Boys:

"Wouldn't It Be Nice" - 121 million times

"Good Vibrations" - 107 million

"God Only Knows" - 64 million

"Surfin U.S.A." - 55 million

"I Get Around" - 44 million

"Don't Worry Baby" would be next with 25.5 million but another song is slightly ahead with 25.7.

So sorry if this comes across as argumentative kaycee but I feel strongly passionate, after listening to the Royal Fille Harm Onix destroy Good Vibrations in another thread, about the real damage they're doing to these songs.

If they originally sounded like 'THIS" many of us wouldn't be here. We would have missed much, if not all, of the magic.

Those ancient instruments overshadow and drown out the original instruments...ie:  the voices.  The nuance of the harmonies is buried underneath the unwelcome din...and then...as they swell...they finally reach the sad state of affairs where they unacceptably reduce Brian's lead vocal to mere 2nd chair.  Give me the original version of 'Warmth of the Sun' EVERY time.  It bounces this over orchestrated mistake right out the door.  What they DON'T 'get'...the thing which Brian DID get...?  Less is more.  WAY more.

For me The Warmth of the Sun and Surf's Up are 1 and 1A when it comes to favorite BB/BW song.

I'd probably give the slight edge to Warmth of the Sun.

'Caroline, No'

It has a simplicity and depth that put it a thing apart.

Could we ever bring 'em back once they have gone?

No prob Lee...It is kinda hard to listen in a different way when the original is soooo good! It is almost like your brain takes over and wants to negate all that is not original right? I get it...[rofl]

Simple question, simple answer. Rio Grande. I spent an hour for listening to music today which doesn't happen very often. I've been into avant garde a little, listening to Van Der Graaf Generator and SMiLE. It ended up in enjoying Rio Grande.
Tomorrow will be a different style and a different song. The guy is a universe in himself.

Wow, I'm less original than Caroline...

(but I do really like her song, from the 'Adult Child' bootleg!).

What I have been playing before going to bed:
Not a completed song but sections that are mesmerizing - 'Been Way Too Long (Sections)' on the 1968 "I Can Hear Music 20/20 Sessions."
