Hello everyone: Brian asked us to put the following message up:

I felt really bad to hear about Chris Rainbow passing away, he was too young. I remember in the late 1970s, a friend played "Dear Brian" for me and I was touched and honored by it. It was a beautiful track. I wish the best for Chris's family and friends.

Love & Mercy,

Brian

Although Dear Brian was the song that paid tribute to Brian in name, Brian's influence is clear to hear in many of Chris Rainbow's songs, including this one, On My Way.

'Now that the clouds have gone
I can see I'm on my way to my Avalon.
Drawn by belief
Tossed like the waves
Blown like the leaves.....▶ Chris Rainbow On My Way - YouTube

This You tube version cuts off the very end. I highly recommend that those of you who like this music try and get hold of some of Chris Rainbow's albums. Beautiful music.

Wonderful tribute from Brian.

Chris' early work, 1974-1980, had a secure foundation in his abiding love of Brian & The Beach Boys. I only had brief email contacts with him over the years, and nothing recently, but he was always a complete gent. Looking Over My Shoulder is a splendid album if you like Beach Boys, harmonies and mid-70s synths. Or just damn fine music.

Home of the Brave and White Trails are great too and Chris also released other material. I bought some rare and unreleased stuff from Chris, sold via Ebay.

But listen to the tag on this one. ▶ Chris Rainbow Dansette - YouTube

thank you Ang and Andrew and Administration. This is beautiful. I had never known of Chris; Dansette is CRAZY good ! Sad news for sure, but Mr. Rainbow is amongst every harmonizing associate (and other loved ones) who have gone before. Glorious !

I find it intensely moving that Brian Wilson has acknowledged the passing of Chris Rainbow in such a thoughtful way. I knew Chris some time ago and he simply adored Brian Wilson's music.

Like anyone who knew Chris, I'm heartbroken at his passing but to know that his music touched Brian is so wonderful. I haven't seen Chris' family in a long while but I'm going to make sure they know that Brian wrote that message; it'll mean a huge amount to them.

Thank you so much for that kind gesture. All the very best to you.

What a gigantic loss.  We are ever-so-much the poorer for Chris' passing.  Brian inspires some very talented people.  OH!!!!...that we hadn't lost THIS one.

Condolences to all of Chris Rainbow's Family, Love Ones, Friends and Fans.  I feel your pain.

Thanks everybody. Particularly, Dansette is really a great piece, where the tag is not simply any tag but deconstructs the song and raises it to a whole new level, just like the tag in "Airplane". Chapeau to you, Chris, wherever you are.

So, so sad to hear this news. Playing White Trails now. Such a talent. A great loss.

PS And how great that posts about Chris Rainbow have reminded me of that wonderful tag to Airplane. I love it when Brian's music just takes off ( no pun intended! but that fantastic moment when it just takes on amazing new energy).
