Still no release date for the UK it seems and I don't suppose I'll get a response from Mr Admin telling us why there's an apparent delay.
I've given up waiting anyway and ordered the Mad Men Complete box set instead!

I am sorry, Peter, but I see you're making the best of it. Couldn't get any clues regarding UK release dates. Still have only seen it ONCE, and we were about eight minutes late to the theater. It was playing in the UK, wasn't it?

Thanks Sue, Yes, it was playing here, I saw it and enjoyed it.
But with a cancelled / postponed tour (and I have to ask, if the tour had been planned for more reasonable sized venues and had sold out - would these mysterious "commitments" still have arisen? I doubt it personally), no information or opportunity to buy the Soundstage DVD and no release date for L&M DVD, we Brits are just having to maintain our stiff upper lips and get on with it. But that's what we do! [smile].  Let's hope next year is a better year for the ever loyal fans outside the US.

Thoroughly enjoyed the film and am looking forward to the DVD and soundtrack release over here.

Still disappointed about the cancellation of the tour, but I learned last week that the cost to rent the Scottish Hydro is between £100'000 and £150'000. I imagine the fee at the other venues will be at similar levels. When I bought my tickets I had a strong suspicion that the tour would probably go ahead.

Got my L and M yesterday and it's good.  The Brian A Side and B Side, 24 minutes, coded on the script as The Lives, Times and Music of Brian Wilson Reimagined is sooooo good.  The nineteen year project!  There is another piece about the clothing and scenery.

There are the four deleted scenes:  Phil Spector scene, Nervous Breakdown Followup (we've already seen this scene here), Tony Asher scene, I Get Around Take 1A with Murry's interruption (as it was on the real Help Me Ronda).

Great job with the film and all else.

I wish they had put more than just 4 deleted scenes on the DVD. I have to believe there was a lot of stuff on the "cutting room floor" that didn't make it that we would have dug seeing--especially any/all of the studio scenes. Maybe in the future...

Frank, the I Get Around sequence was the studio but mainly a battle, of course. Two scenes (Spector and Tony Asher) were very short.  The Special Feature A Side/B Side - Portraying the Life of Brian Wilson is the real story behind the film.

There are indeed more deleted scenes. Based on not only the screenplay but production stills, these scenes were filmed but cut:

* 'Brian Past' listening to "Be My Baby" over and over on his headphones.
* 'Brian Future' speaking to Dr. Landy about the goodnight kiss after his date with Melinda.
* 'Brian Past' and Van Dyke Parks writing "Heroes & Villains" in the sandbox.
* 'Brian Past' watching TV news program about fires in LA after recording "The Elements: Fire".

Wouldn't it be great if they had included these (and probably others) on the DVD?! As I said earlier, maybe sometome in the future...

It would indeed be awesome. And, I actually think there are other scenes, too. In the audio commentary I believe Pohlad mentions there are other SMiLE session scenes that were filmed but that did not make the final cut. And that's born out in the screenplay. There's a few scenes of studio work, much like what was in the finished product for Pet Sounds.

There have been other films that received 'extended cut' releases after the initial home video release. Even within the genre of the biopic, Walk the Line, is an example of this. In that case, I believe some ten additional scenes were added to the film and in addition to that further deleted scenes were included with the physical DVD/BD release.

I realize it's a complete shot in the dark but someday, a few years down the road, I sure would love to see an extended cut of Love & Mercy. I realize that Mr. Pohlad essentially had final cut because he served as not only the director but also the producer (and financer!). So, the version that was released to theaters and on home video is his vision. But, just speaking strictly as a fan of the film, it is a bummer to know that there are additional scenes that will go unseen by the general public. I'm extremely grateful for what we got; four deleted scenes and a commentary plus the featurettes. It's a terrific treatment of this film.

Just speaking simply as a zealous fan, I want it all (or whatever else I can get!) [biggrin]
