The sum of the awards Dano has received says it all. My regret about the lack of Oscar nominations, is that it would have given the film, and Brian's story a shot in the arm. Making more people aware of it, and/or arousing interest/curiosity in those watching the show to see it. Hearing Dano, Banks and maybe Cusack nominated--as well as the film itself (and heck, maybe editing and script too) would have put the name "Love & Mercy" out there several times that night (as well as maybe 2-4 clips from the film)--and that certainly would have raised awareness of the film and Brian's story to those who have missed it (lets not forget--the film had a limited release) or were not that aware of the Brian's story or the quality of the film.

Very true, smileyFrank.
The Campaign To Change Direction went hand-in-hand with this film, and I think it would've benefited greatly had L&M got more exposure. On the plus side, there is FINALLY a movie that captures the exact atmosphere and story of Brian Wilson's life...and in this day and age it is available to mostly anyone. And who knows, maybe this movie release will mirror that of the Pet Sounds release - a work of art that doesn't truly shock the world until years later, and it just keeps getting momentum. __________________ "My God, it's full of stars!"

I re-watched L&M for like the 3rd or 4th time this morning. The acting is superb, in my opinion. I guess I should be shocked there were no nominations, but I'm not. Granted, I haven't seen a lot of the competition. But, Mad Max Fury whatever....? I just wasn't made for these times.

I haven't watched the Academy Awards ceremony for years.. There's hardly any intersection between the Oscars and what I find interesting about film. If
Love & Mercy had been nominated - which it should have been for some categories * - I would have tuned in, though. Oh well.. *Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Screenplay, Best Sound Editing
