HI Everyone: I was listening to NPR on Wed. and heard a report about a chorus of young women in Kabul Afghanistan singing "Love and Mercy"....thanks to our Brian sending them the music!! There is a growing population of the next generation listening to rock n roll there...such a thrill to hear them.
Love and Mercy to you all.

I don't remember hearing about this. Here's the story from NPR (National Public Radio), including Brian's participation.

Brian posted about this in August on Facebook (this is a video you can click on):

A newspaper story from September:

Clara,  Thanks for sharing this!  It's incredible.  And Larry, as usual, being on top of this.  It was just posted on NPR, as Clara mentions, this week.

This is very cool that Brian is involved.  I don't think that it's easy for Afghan kids or anyone to get a visa here.  But with the music in them, hoping that something becomes of it.

"But Wilson has sent over voice and music tracks for his song "Love and Mercy" that the girls have mixed with their own. It's now part of the the Miraculous Love Kids' first-ever professional collaboration."

Here's the chronicle of it all:

Brian Wilson involved with something VERY noble. ^
If you play the audio version link (that Clara mentions and Larry posts) - you hear Brian and the girls doing Love and Mercy.  It's at the VERY end >

Brian's FB page had posted about this a couple of months ago. It was very sad and maddening to see the comments. Almost all were critical about him getting involved with her possibly visiting the US. A couple of people actually wished him harm.
I wish they could meet but it probably won't be in the US, not in the present climate here. :-(

THANK YOU ALL for your responses and info about the efforts Brian and other musicians are making to bring hope and joy to these kids in Afghanistan.

Very Cool - We all need a little L&M. Afghanistan needs alot of it. ~~~

This is very moving. I hope that one day they can meet. Sadly, it seems those negative commenters didn't 'get' what L&M is all about.
