Seems like everyone here would be interested in—and shocked by— the New York Times story about the 2008 in LA that destroyed the masters from thousands of recording stars of the last 50-60 years.
So much work, by so many artists we all know, destroyed, and largely kept secret until now.
But I wondered if anyone knew if it affected Brian and/or The Beach Boys works?
The story, “The Day the Music Burned,” is online, and it tells a lot about the recording process on a way that may be new, or better understood, by “just fans” like me. Deals with quality in making what we hear, and how it’s better or worse...

The BB masters and multi-tracks are all stored in a different facility (in LA, I think), and have pretty much all been digitised anyway.
