@dancai  I sooooo much agree with you that it was amazing.  I heard the first leg of the tour with the orchestra and was completely blown away.  The second leg of 2000 - there was no orchestra. Probably too much to pay for - but wow, it was impressive!!!!

Because the orchestra was only used on the 2000 US tour, and the live album was recorded in January 2002 at his London shows.

Pity.  The orchestra would have added a great deal to the recording.

My friend for Christmas bought us tickets for the Brian Wilson Christmas show at the Grand Sierra in Reno (3rd row!). Since my ex and I traveled from the West Coast to Boston for the Pet Sounds 50th anniversary tour, it's awesome that I will see Brian and his band this year - my brother Paul (deceased) was a big fan and introduced me to the Beach Boys when I was a child. In Boston, I had Brian and Al sign the David Leaf book which belonged to my brother and was handed down to me. My love of Brian's tunes and arrangements will make his show for me a very special Christmas indeed!

Went last night (12/23/18 - guess that's technically the night before last) to the Brian Wilson Christmas show at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno and it was wonderful! The jazzy version of "Frosty the Snowman" blew me away, and what's Christmas without "Little Saint Nick"? Brian's arrangements never fail to astonish - "Auld Lang Syne" was heart-wrenchingly beautiful. I managed to get it on my phone, so I can play it at midnight on New Year's. Blondie's version of "O Holy Night" was epic - that man can wail! At the end, Brian's group did some old Beach Boys songs which the crowd loved. "Darlin'" was sung in a voice almost as sweet as Carl's (notice I said almost - Carl had such a lovely voice). Thank you to Brian, Blondie, Al, and the rest of the band for a memorable evening. Enjoy your Christmas with your families (bet you're all glad to be home), and have a happy, peaceful New Year.  <3
