Great article: Paul definitely deserved and should have received an Oscar nomination, but as this article shows he's getting the recognition he deserves from the industry and audiences.

Thanks so much.  A fascinating article.  It's no wonder he did such a brilliant job as Brian.  Well, first of all, he always does a brilliant job as an actor; but secondly, he is very much like Brian in his approach to his art. And he was - oddly - born the day before Brian's 42nd birthday.

I loved his work starting with "Little Miss Sunshine," loved "About Flynn" and while "There Will Be Blood," and "12 Years a Slave," were painful to experience, he was clearly brilliant and so different in each role.  He'll be with us for a very long time.  And "Ruby Sparks" was one of those rather surreal experiences in watching a film, so I have a very respectful sense of his partner Zoe as well.

Needless to say, I'm a fan. Why was he snubbed for the Oscars?  Why was Spielberg snubbed for years? - the political hustle.  Same with his not winning in the Golden Globes.  I do really like the work of Leo DiCaprio, but he is the more "visible" actor.

And then there was the Golden Globe song thing...The only real contender was obviously Brian's "One Kind of Love," but that race car actor guy died, so we got that silly, "sounding like everything else in that genre" theme thing for his film as the "best song" winner.  Stupid.  I've always been more interested in the nominees than just noticing the winners.  It's always nonsense at the end.

"Good Vibrations" lost to "Winchester Cathedral" at the Grammys.  What else is there to say about awards?

Here's the Wilton Patch piece on him.  Close by and I coach a team in that league.

Great article!

I can't wait to see Dano's performance in 'War & Peace'. He was robbed of awards this year, but I hope he is truly proud of his accomplishments - accomplishments that will stand the test of time.

Paul Dano is excellent in War and Peace. It is already running on A & E cable channel. If you have On Demand you can catch up. The mini-series is quite good overall with many fine performances from a mostly British cast. British actors, to me, are far more interesting than American actors. And I'm an American actor. lol

I really took notice of Paul after watching Love & Mercy.  And hearing him speak to the media about the role and meeting Brian, I've grown to admire his make-up as a man - the world needs more people like Paul Dano!

Thanks Curt! Sadly I do not have the A&E channel, but I will look for it on Netflix/Amazon Prime in the future, and if not there I'm sure iTunes will be selling it at some point.

The trailer for it looks fantastic.

HAL - Amazon Prime has it now as an episode or series purchase. I also noticed that it is running in Lifetime Channel now. Seems to have disappeared off of A & E. I might have missed the last episode. Will have to check out On Demand or grab it at some point on Amazon Prime. Paul Dano was so excellent as Brian in Love and Mercy. I agree with everyone here that he was robbed by Golden Globes and by no Oscar nomination. Politics in Hollywood are notorious. Sigh...

Brian was shamefully robbed by The Golden Globes, but the nomination was great, and he and Melinda looked fabulous at the ceremony.
