Alrighty, we are cruising the San Fran area now and went across Golden Gate up to Bodega Bay and cut across Santa Rosa to Sonoma (when Ramona had some heart).

Of course you can't help but sing it and look for the resemblance of the cover.

So I dug up this from Van Dyke talking about it but the version played is different for some reason.

The song is perfect.  I loved the Gershwin Lullaby on the album as well.

Orange Crate Art is a really good album, it has a tender & intelligent nostalgia for an ideal past. It's a continuation of the Americana of SMiLE. Brian's voice conjures California. I slip this album on and it is like slipping into those paintings in the CD booklet. This album is a real stayer for me, it is great that Brian and Van did this second great collaboration this time with Brian as the support player. This is one of those albums that creates a special place of its own, so original.

Well, nothing to add with OCA, but yesterday went to Haight Street (best pizza slice EVER in the lower Haight at Mythic Pizza) and on to the H/A district and on to Amoeba Records (AMAZING store).  A lot of Beach Boys in vinyl there and Smile box (used) was on the main rack.  I added the double Smile double album up there.  TLOS was in there along with varous Pet Sounds and others.  I got two vinyl and two CDs, all non BB's.

The park, Buena Vista, overlooking Haight (before you get to Ashbury) was beautiful.

Today was off to Oakland.  The harmony group that performed the NA prior to the game, we're amazing. They HAD to have heard the BB's version.

But more of Orange Crate....

Chuck,

When I first heard it I thought it was collaborative in every sense.  The problem is that there are inconsistencies within, but the high water marks are VERY high.

I don't like Mystic Pizza either - over rated.  This was Mythic on Haight Street in SF but the lower end, before Buena Vista and the really hippie Haight section.

I can't get OCA out of my head though out here.
