A nice gesture by them of the Academy? When hell freezes over.

I have to agree. Nice gestures don't really play into this process. Too bad, though.

Nice gestures don't play a big role in the usual selection process, but sentiment isn't out of the question in the awarding of special Oscars. After all, there's no money involved.
Although I certainly don't expect it to happen, it would make some good television (movie clips are fun and Brian would get a standing ovation) and also demonstrate some respect for the artists who create the songs that contribute so much to movie soundtracks these days. And considering the bald heads and gray hair of some of the Academy's leadership, and the fact that the industry is based in Southern California, there could be enough Beach Boys fans in positions of power to make it happen. http://www.oscars.org/about/board-of-governors?hq_e=el&hq_m=257757&hq_l=1&hq_v=713bc88528

Let's write all of them letters to get OKOL at least
considered. Bending the rules slightly is not out of the question. I know it's not the most important Oscar, but I'd like to see L&M nominated for as many as possible. Both the film and Brian deserve it...
