[QUOTE=paul g adsett]
<snip>tony bennett, at least last time i saw him perform, wasn't losing it.
and, marc almond's live soft cell farewell 40th anniversary(!!!) gig,
showed a performer who's grown in ability over the decades.<snip>

I disagree about Tony, who talks, rather than sings,  his way through his repertoire.  Still, see him perform, if you can.  (If you want to experience his mastery, his phrasing alone makes him unique, but also watch how he uses his hands and works the mic.)

But I digress.  By all means, unless it's a real economic sacrifice, see Paul once more.  I myself regret never attending a Paul Simon show.  We (Boomers, I mean) were so fortunate growing up with the Beach Boys, Beatles, and so many others who were turning pop on its head.

I liked the Beatles, and still do.  How can I not?  Whoever says he doesn't like them is probably just posturing-- I wish only that pop today were a fraction as meaningful, not to mention catchy, as the Beatles.  But I rarely listen to their records.

I love the Boys.. and very few others among their peers.

Sorry to ramble so.

For the record, Macca has been a vegan for many years.

I hate to nit pick - I wasn't quite sure myself - but he's vegetarian, not quite vegan as he explains after 12:58 here (the full vid is quite fun and interesting):

I almost died of happiness when Paul McCartney came to New Zealand.  I even have a photo of us!  You can't quite see Macca, as I am in the foreground somewhat and he was about a kilometre behind me, but it's the two of us in the same frame, nonetheless.
[smile] I clearly see his aura, Bonnie![angel]

Lisa,

Know that video.  At last year's shows there was an accompanying cd/dvd given to us. I never watched it [frown].

But check out Linda's influence AND the video at the end.

It sounds like you had a wonderful time Lisa! When I saw Paul in concert last year, it was just the most amazing thing. The only other shows that have come close to it were Brian’s Saratoga show last October and the Rolling Stones’ Edinburgh performance in June. Next year I get to see Paul in Lexington!!! Anybody else got tickets?

Hey GGH/Jenny! Good to see you and thanks!

Man, hard to believe it's been a week already! Just goes to show what a fabulous show it was, still vividly remembering and reliving it that well.

That was my fourth - December '89, Toronto (then SkyDome, now called Rogers Centre); then lucky me, the other 3 right here (May '93, August 2013 and September 2018) so at least no added expense to arrange flights or road trips and hotel stays.

Let's see.. June 1 in Lexington, KY huh? Phooey, I'll probably only be there in spirit, but hey...follow my lead and post your own OT on your experience. I'm sure by then we'll be looking forward to another round of this .. especially from a younger generation's viewpoint.  [thumb]
