I just listened to the samples and this album sounds INCREDIBLE. A lot different than anything we have heard. I literally cannot wait to get it.

These wee snippets of pure magic don't take me back to a bygone era...although these gems are certainly a progression from then to now.  A NATURAL progression.  While some folks...likely many...bemoan the way things fell out of place during year 50 it would seem that it may well have merely been the stars aligning themselves properly.

As was always the case back in the GLORY years Brian has surrounded himself with the A Team.  To share the lead vocals throughout was ALWAYS the way Brian did it.  Now...it's the way he's doing it again and it works for him.  It also works for us.  When Brian is inspired...WE get inspired and he has a crew with him on No Pier Pressure who have clearly inspired him.  It's contagious. Cool

The album is as advertised if the little pieces available are true indicators.  'They'...and I include Ray Lawlor in this...have suggested all along that Brian really put his heart and soul into THIS album.  It's ever-so-easy to HEAR that THAT is true.  Not since BWPS have I looked forward with justified excitement and anticpation to sitting back in a perfect setting to enjoy a Brian Wilson masterwork.  THIS is exactly that.  It's not a reimagining of anything.  It's not a recreation of something left hanging.  It's BRAND SPANKING NEW Brian Wilson and FRIENDS.  There-in beams the difference.

The absolute hardest part of dealing with No Pier Pressure will be the conundrum of trying to figure out which song you like the best.  It could well take years.  This album is truly something special.  We...and others...will be singing it's praises LONG after some of us have ceased to exist.

Jackpot Brian.  Congratulations.  IF you EVER 'lost' it???...You most assuredly have it back again.  FAN-Freakin-tastic.  THAT's what I call *M U S I C*. Cool Guy

I ordered on Amazon to get the extra two tracks so I haven't ordered on Google and heard the samples - I'm SO tempted to do this too!

But meanwhile what I have heard from those who know what they are talking about - like Ray Lawlor - has been more than enough to increase my excitement. The things I HAVE heard are really impressive - what I always used to call 'Brianessence', that Wilson fingerprint that is so unmistakeable and that so many try to copy, usually less successfully.

Thanks Joseph and Lee for notching up my pulse rate a tad more with your descriptions.

I will say those little samples made me wish April 7th was a lot sooner.[smile]

Also I believe "Somewhere Quiet" is "Summer Means New Love" with lyrics.  I always loved that instrumental and it's going to be interesting to hear it with singing now.

You do not need to order from google to hear the snippets. At least here in the US you don't. Ang, and all, run, run to hear those snippets! LOL This album is going to be soooooo great!

I did try without success on Google but thanks to Lee Marshall on this very MB got a link that works for me so I've now heard the samples and I am really impressed! The harmonies are beautiful - so looking forward to the new album.

Aren't the Google clips just the best? What a joy this new record is going to be.

Does anyone notice a bit of "Lay Down Burden" in the chorus of "The Right Time?"

Curt's post made me think/remember that a while ago didn't Al or Brian say something about a rock type song called run something?  Wonder what ever happened to that because it seemed like the way they talked like it was done... The ones on there though are awesome!!!

Ang...I can't take credit.  I 'lifted' it from a post left elsewhere by Reggie Dunbar.  NO...not THAT Reggie Dunbar.  I think the 'good' Reggie actually did all of the work to make that link possible.

It just didn't seem right to me that my friends in the UK were not able to join in on a level playing field.  Besides it gives us more to talk about than this less than ideal weather...or why Bruce wears just the oddest looking shorts.

I did see this on Smiley Smile... eventually! But you still deserve credit - you brought it to the attention of those who don't visit Smiley Smile!

As for Bruce's shorts - I'm afraid I can offer no enlightenment on that one....

I think Al mentioned something about a Beach Boys like car song titled Run James Run which was recorded during the NPP sessions.   Perhaps the song didn't make the cut.   At least Al is on the album because at one point Al was acting like he wasn't sure if the songs with his leads would be included.  Perhaps Jeff Beck did some guitar for Run James Run?[smile]   A part of me was interested in hearing the tracks with Beck on them but after the way he went around talking about Brian following the tour I'm glad he's not on the album.   Prior to touring with Brian, Jeff Beck was making it like Brian had him working on Pet Sounds caliber material.   Then after the tour he goes on a rant how they really didn't do much of anything together.

Run, James, Run was working title of the SONG, Pet Sounds.  Had the Bond-like sound to it.

I know Run, James, Run was the original title for the Pet Sounds instrumental.   But Al had mentioned something about Brian using the title for a car song during the NPP sessions.
