Well, I was done, except:

A few days ago, I agreed to host next week. So I put together a playlist of eight possible songs for Darren to share around the world. I just replaced one of them. If you should happen to run through them and one doesn't play, please let us know. Thanks.

The playlist:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLnzY8RQcl4WA_oQVTGQsvVil06VOqY4zH

Might as well make it an even three hours:

Quilla -- "Exploding Galaxies" (They don't explode. But in the far off future, they may all shrink and get sucked into black holes.)
youtube.com/watch?v=8zqBErOlTtU

Panda Bear -- "Comfy In Nautica"
youtube.com/watch?v=MT3NVv7IZ8Q

Khruangbin -- "The Man Who Took My Sunglasses" (tough choice between this and their "Two Fish And An Elephant")
youtube.com/watch?v=2LRQOi2vyZg

Lana Del Rey -- "Born To Die"
youtube.com/watch?v=EJZTdRq2vUI

Dion -- "Born To Cry"

Thank you, bonnie.

(Mostly) enjoyable listening. I had these on high rotation this past busy week.

Gold - Invisible Paint (Wondermints - 1996)
Timely inclusion and, yes, it’s written by and sung by Nick Walusko. Not up there with my fave Wondermints songs but interesting enough.

Silver - Prune, You Talk Funny (Gus Dapperton - 2018)
Someone got a flanger pedal for Xmas! Actually, it’s weeks like this that I wish Paul Adsett wasn’t away for, because I just know he would articulate the merits, discern the intricacies of and critique these four records far better than I ever could. And then I could just comment, “What Paul said”. I quite like this. I suspect there’s talent there. He’s going to be here in Brisbane in December (Gus, not Paul).

Bronze - Damn Damn Leash (Be Your Own Pet - 2004)
Impressive and tight playing, especially the middle part. Doesn’t overstay its welcome.

Participant - Where In the Hell Did You Go With My Toothbrush (The Reverend Horton Heat - 2012)
Sounds like he’s singing in a hall of empty seats. Appropriate. I don’t necessarily dislike country or its associated genres, including psychobilly, but if this is trying to be funny – and I suspect it is – it fails. It just depressed me.

Does this work everywhere?...

Hey gang - I just saw Blinded By The Light last evening and HIGHLY recommend this - based on a true story. Inspirational how music can change us, guide us, and comfort us - be it Brian or Bruce or whomever.  The hipsters were listing to Debbie Gibson and Tiffany during this time on the film much like they listen to A. Grande, T. Swift K. Perry now: Throw-aways whilst Bruce and Brian will ALWAYS stand.

I'm going to be Bonnie's personal secretary now and echo Darren - on the Paul A would have had a field day with this and where is Cantina when we need him?  BUT the Reverend is supposed to depress and make you laugh at the same time - she took his dog, Smokey after all - forget the toothbrush (but left the unpaid bills).  And I did like the Leash song but dynamics ruled the day for me - one smashing sound vs. some dynamic range. Darren, Nicky wrote it but isn't this Darian on the lead voc?  I may be becoming a fan of the Reverend now:
youtube.com/watch?time_continue=51&v=kLtDY1VSq40  The Rev ROCKS!
Check the guitar:

Back to my north of the border bud for it seems how long?  I accept my weirdness so that may protect me in its own way - but I thank you for your candor and support.   Please hug a moose for me today! Okay Bonnie - back to you [thumb]

Larry -- All tracks on your quite eclectic playlist cooperate here, North of the 49th. (ahem)

Al -- Good to know you enjoyed Blinded By The Light. Haven't seen yet, partly because it seems right on the heels of "Yesterday" which I enjoyed. While BBTL is based on a true story, it still looked vaguely in the same vein as the obviously fictional Y. Then again, both have had some iffy reviews, so maybe I'll find time to give it a shot and see the light, so to speak.

Pfft! I'm not nearly rural enough to find a moose to hug...so I'll have to settle for my mini Moose, Adele, lounging in our ~ double Pfft! ~ igloo. :

Thanks to Darren and st kilda for voting, and thank you for nominating yourself as my personal secretary, young Al.

Lisa, that cheeky little face says it all. I'll get my secretary to drop by and pick him up. I want him.

Larry, excellent last-minute choices with Khruangbin and Panda Bear. Khruangbin has just recently put out a new album. Here's another song from them with an unusual title.

Voting closes in less than twelve hours. So far, it's been an intimate little week.

bonnie -- Intimate indeed. Speaking as one of the chickens, someone should post the strangest title in the Beach Boys catalog. Not going to be me (52 songs this week was probably enough).

Hint: It's DYLWRPR. I suppose ILTSDD would work too.

Lisa - Blinded BY The Light - many times over better than Yesterday - except of course nice to hear the Beatle music reinterpreted.  IT was clever about the way he got the Beatle music.  Favorite scene though - "You're John."  BBTL will move you in different ways - go see it.  Two thumbs and two big toe rating here from me.  Yesterday - a thumb and a half.

I have resigned as the personal secretary - so I can't even be fired. I'll collect my brief NZ$ wages for my work and cash payment wired directly - no tax burden.  You probably need to pay Larry more however - he's actually been working it throughout the week.  Give him some overtime pay.

I NEVER would want to get between a bear and her cub nor Lisa and her pet. That probably wouldn't end well for anyone.

Larry, Busy Doing Nothing is kind of a strange title isn't it?  Was it Lisa or Ang Jones who always raved about the Magic Transistor?  Thinkin' Ang.

"Busy Doing Nothing" certainly qualified for this week. I'm not sure about "Magic Transistor Radio". A couple others might have been "You Need A Mess Of Help To Stand Alone" and "A Day In The Life Of A Tree", in addition to the previously mentioned DYLWRPR and ILTSDD.

The internet is divided on whether it's "Take A Load Off Your Feet" or "Take Good Care Of Your Feet" -- I would have said the latter without looking.

As this week winds down, I want to mention (lower case) of Montreal's album Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? It has such titles as:

Sink the Seine
Cato As A Pun
Heimdalsgate Like A Promethean Curse
Gronlandic Edit
A Sentence Of Sorts In Kongsvinger
We Were Born The Mutants Again With Leafling

and my personal favorite, the 12-minute long "The Past Is A Grotesque Animal". (Trust me, the 12 minutes go by just like that!)

(Couldn't resist posting just one more)

Maybe this one, too.

:
Or this one my dad would sing. 75 years ago today he was flying the nose turret of a B-17.

Darren -- Both the Willie Nelson and Kinky Friedman tracks work here...and come pretty close to all-time "What The (naughty word)" for titles and subject matter.

Al and/or Larry -- Ang would likely be the one enamored with Magic Transistor Radio. More of a long lost, forgotten curiosity piece to me. [smile]  Good point, amazing how we've overlooked SMiLE for some real wackadoodle titles.

bonnie -- Adele is actually a she, not he. [wink]  Believe it or not, she was a stray at the pound, and they gave her the name. I kept the name since as a Pom or Pom mix, she has that diva look although she's trusting enough to kiss everyone she meets. So in a way, she contributes to peace pretty much like singer Adele's music rescues a dysfunctional family in this kinda "What The...???" SNL skit of a few years ago (continuing my tradition of derailing things slightly):

feeling immensely left out this week.
only now logged in to see what's a'happenin'.
and, bugger me,
it's a topic i'd've wallowed in...

but, here we are, floating off alaska
(watching whales blow at the no,
with a negroni in hand)
and i'm going to have to do some seriously swift listening
if i get to vote this week.
captain beefheart gets my vote,
whatevah...

right
- one listen to2 each only this time
(except rev thingumnywhatsit's,
which i genuinely couldn't believe first time around).

gold: Wondermints - Invisible Paint
- a hit,
even though doesn't hit my top 10 wondermint songs

silver: Reverend Horton Heat - Where In The Hell Did
- You Go With My Toothbrush?
- best title,
still can't comprehend it,
but it made an impact.

bronze: Be Your Own Pet - Damn Damn Leash
- um, cocked its leg,
washed over me
and didn't feel the need to groom further.

tjn: Gus Dapperton - Prune, You Talk Funny
- bland, needing prune juice to get it going.

time for my incomparable heroes
and their bizarre titles
(the 1st one is a play on. the title of
a surrealist dali work
and appears on the album 'keynsham'
that ashley bought me for xmas
coming up to 50 years back...)

(not the 'magical mystery tour clip)

'dada for now...
