Now the challenge for the new president-elect will be to focus on the needs of the entire electorate and a more cohesive/collaborative government, and not just the 28% who voted him into office. Let's hope he can be an effective leader focused on the needs and rights of all Americans, when he plans to "make America great again". Our country certainly needs a unifying leader who can bring together our widely divided populace and help heal, rather than further widen, our divisions, and enhance our international relations with friend and foe alike. That is asking a lot of any US president these days.

These are nice sentiments, Tom.

Here’s a song that came to mind after I listened to the Youngbloods:
"The Beatles-We Can Work it Out"

My votes are:

Gold: The Beach Boys - Little Honda

Silver: Elvis Costello - Watching the Detectives

Bronze: Otis Redding - (Sittin’ On) the Dock of the Bay

Tin: Bad Company - Feel Like Making Love

Lisa, you picked an excellent name for your button-eyed fluffy friend!  My Chic looked just a little more ... horsey.  [smile]

bonnie -- I bought her previously owned and named, but the name suits her in two ways. Firstly, she goes "bananas" at any dogs (even BIG ones) when we go for walks -- the Napoleon mentality lots of small dogs seem to have. Secondly, I later read "Chiquita" is Spanish for "little girl", so no matter how old she gets, she'll still be my little girl. She turns 10 in January but doesn't act it at all -- to be that lively pushing 70!

Thanks, Gracie girl.  No problem waiting I’m getting a late start myself.  I’m recovering from my niece's 1-year-old birthday party yesterday.  THAT was the very best way I spent time this past week.  They would have voted “The Wheels on the Bus” as the best song.

Ok, it’s time to wrap up the vote totals here.
Most of us preferred sitting on the dock of the bay to riding that little Honda, but not by much.  And by just as slim a margin, the TV viewers beat the lovers.

There were 17 voters with 170 points up for grabs.

The Gold winner with 54 points total is Otis Redding for “Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay”

     9 Gold, 2 Silver, 6 Bronze, and 0 Tin.

The Silver winner with 52 points total is The Beach Boys for “Little Honda”

     7 Gold, 6 Silver, 2 Bronze, 2 Tin.

The Bronze winner with 33 points total is Elvis Costello for “Watching the Detectives”

     0 Gold, 5 Silver, 6 Bronze, 6 Tin.

The Tin winner with 31 points total is Bad Company for “Feel Like Making Love”

     1 Gold, 4 Silver, 3 Bronze, 9 Tin.

Here, the popular vote counts.
Thanks for voting.

Well done, Deb.

Those scores are in ‘the book’ marked ‘Season VII’, currently finding its way to the bottom of page 2 of this forum.

It was the second time around for ‘Dock of the Bay’.

Last time it won a Silver, beaten by ‘Darlin’’ (The Beach Boys) by 12.5 points.

Otis Redding’s record:

(Sittin’ on) The Dock of the Bay (a Silver in Week 2 of Season IV - Cindy Hood),
Try a Little Tenderness (a Silver in Week 44 of Season IV, 5th in Silver Play-Off - Al Forsyth),
(Sittin’ on) The Dock of the Bay (a Gold in Week 38 of Season VII - Deb#1)

It was the second time for ‘Little Honda’.

Last time, it won the Gold in Week 19 of Season III (Teenage Symphony).

Its scores that time were 50.5 and 31.56% of the vote.

Compare that to this week’s 52 and 30.59%.

How does All Summer Long rate in the Battle?

Let’s find out….

11 of the 16 tracks associated with the album have been used in the Battle.

Its record:

I Get Around (a Gold in Week 3 of Season I, 2nd in Preliminary Final, 4th in Gold Play-Off - Darren J Ray; a Gold in Week 35 of Season V, 1st (annual Gold) in Gold Play-Off, 8th in the Ultimate Battle - bonnie bella),

All Summer Long (a Gold in Week 24 of Season V, 4th in Preliminary Final - Cindy Hood),

Hushabye (a Gold in Week 8 of Season V - Popeye (not the sailor)),

Little Honda (a Gold in Week 19 of Season III - Teenage Symphony; a Silver in Week 38 of Season VII - Deb#1*),

We’ll Run Away (a Tin in Week 32 of Season IV - Roy Rogers),

Wendy (a Silver in Week 11 of Season II, 2nd in Silver Play-Off, 3rd in Preliminary Final, 8th in Gold Play-Off - Prodigal Son),

Girls on the Beach (a Gold in Week 19 of Season V, 8th in Gold Play-Off - Lisa G/TS),

Drive-In (a Silver in Week 2 of Season V - Verden McCutcheon),

Don’t Back Down (a Gold in Week 38 of Season V - Roy Rogers),

Be True to Your School (a Silver in Week 40 of Season IV, 6th in Silver Play-Off - snoops71; a Gold in Week 1 of Season VI, 9th in Preliminary Final - Lee Marshall),

All Dressed Up for School (a Bronze in Week 29 of Season V - Frankie Teardrop)

* still in contention for this year’s play-offs

‘Hushabye’ by The Mystics won a Gold in Week 1 of Season II and finished 9th in the Preliminary Final (Al Forsyth).

That record would suggest it’s the second most popular Beach Boys album after Pet Sounds and just marginally ahead of Sunflower, at present.

With Sunflower, seven of the 12 tracks have been used for 6 Golds, a Bronze and a Tin. (‘This Whole World’ has been used twice – both Golds.)

It was Elvis Costello’s third entry.

His record:

Turning the Town Red (a Bronze in Week 42 of Season IV, 9th in Bronze Play-Off - Teenage Symphony),
(What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love, and Understanding (a Silver in Week 16 of Season V - Larry Franz),
Watching the Detectives (a Bronze in Week 38 of Season VII - Deb#1)

From this week, ‘Little Honda’ is an outside chance of making the Silver Play-Off.

If it made that play-off and won, both it and ‘Dock of the Bay’ would progress to the Preliminary Final.

If it made that play-off and was runner-up, only ‘Dock of the Bay’ would progress.
