A very small hit...Cleveland & Akron. http://www.las-solanas.com/arsa/charts_item.php?hsid=75151

Andrea did chart nationally, this made #45. Andrea was 16 when she recorded it (again with the Chiffons):

This didn't chart anywhere. Good title, I think most of you will agree:

Gold -- The Honeys -- I've always liked this song.

Silver -- Missy Higgins

Bronze -- Dido

Tin -- Katherine McPhee -- Way, way behind the others.

Judy Garland, "Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart", from the "Command Performance" program as heard over the Armed Forces Radio Network in 1943.

The Pearlfishers, "Go Away Boy", Caroline Now! compilation, 2000

Princess Princess, "Go Away Boy", 1988 (not the same song at all)

Thank you Darren

A few from the 1980's.

Lene Lovich. Yes, that's Thomas Dolby (in the blue/grey suit) on keyboards:

If you dare, the Nina Hagen Band:

Hi there Nay!  Welcome aboard!

t, No matter how hard I try, I can't listen to Yoko sing.  I'd rather clean up cat vomit.  True story.

My votes.

GOLD - Dido.  Only Dido could pull of a name that only requires one simple vertically inclined consonant added to make it ridiculous.  This song is gorgeous and lately I've been hearing it everywhere, so I'm surprised to see it pop up in the battle too.  This song is a "country mile" winner, assuming a country mile is a fairly significant distance.

SILVER - Missy Higgins.  Not really a fan of Missy, but this is certainly one of her better songs.  What lovely vocals!  Once you've played it a few times, you're hooked.

BRONZE - The Honeys.  I like the version Larry posted better, but this is certainly a nice song, with a strong Brian flavour.  The more you play it, the sweeter it sounds.  (Larry, I also enjoyed the Judy Garland song, thanks.)

TIN - McPhee.  A little too twee, is little Miss McPee, to me.  (Adsett would blow a gasket with this crappy kind of rhyming.)  Not a song that grabs me.  I also find the lyrics slightly off.  Off putting, that is.

Cherie Currie is going to be performing in NZ soon, and I'm tempted to go.  Here she is with her much less talented sister Marie, and wearing the alarmingly tight green pants.

Bonnie,

I'm with you on Yoko.  Her music is just plain awful.

I turned up the sound just so I could see if that Cherie Currie song was the Rainbow song Since You've Been Gone.  Sure enough, it is.  And not a very good version I might add.  Her stuff with The Runaways was much better.

Like the suggestive Cherry Bomb.

Well, no, I'm not really a Yoko fan, either, but somebody had to acknowledge her. Hey, it could have been "Don't Worry Kyoko (Mummy's Only Looking for Her Hand in the Snow)", okay(?), so consider my choice as 'Yoko-Lite'.

Did someone say Runaways? Here's former Runaway and recent R&RHoF inductee Joan Jett, with her band, the Blackhearts:

Former 'Ikette' P.P. Arnold went to England with Ike & Tina, but she stayed.

The Hollies covered Evie Sands:

The Searchers covered Jackie DeShannon:

Speaking of PP Arnold, she guested on Roger Waters's great 1992 album Amused to Death.
Here she is on Perfect Sense.  She actually toured with him for a few years as a backup vocalist.

I kinda forgot that Jada Pinkett Smith, actress and wife of Will Smith, fronted a heavy metal band.

That is not a typo.  It's called Wicked Wisdom.

Yoko = artist.  Has anyone read Gumption by Nick Offerman?  Yoko is on HIS Mt. Rushmore - relighting the torch of freedom with America's gutsiest troublemakers.  I have no problem with her!

Meantime, I have posted Phantogram before - and here they are again:

Amy tackles the Beat Brothers

I think T posted the Shangs - but here is the discography. (Sophisticated Boom Boom is in here.)

Here we go

Gold - The Honeys - Pretty easy choice

Silver - Dido - Bonnie pointed out you can add a letter in the middle of her name and make a joke.  But, you can also remove a letter to get one of the greatest rock vocalists of all time

Bronze - Missy Higgins - Meh

Tin - Katherine McPhee - Double Meh

Season 7 Week 13.....Children of a lesser God

I must say Darren i pretty much like all these tracks this week !

                1)The Honeys.....Mainly for sentimental reasons

2)Missy Higgins....Sounds a bit like a track of No Pier Pressure at the outset

               3) DIDO........A very strong Bronze

4)Katherine McPhee.....To good to be last... but alas !

                                                       Nice Songs !
