THis song is one of my favorites on NPP...but I of course can not pick one... but do I hear Al singing in this song too? Or is it not him?  He isn't mentioned in the credits as he is on the others so I wasn't sure but it sure sounds like him...

Al comes in on the "I want to take you somewhere quiet" parts.   Just like with TWGMTR, Al's vocals are really superb on NPP.

I wonder if they forgot to put Al's name on the credits because this was one of the extra songs on the Deluxe version.

Oh ok that makes sense..I guess I didn't realize that was one of the extra songs so I could see where they may have forgot..I thought for sure it was him and you are right Jeremy L his vocals on here on spot on and really beef it up.... all in all a great album for sure! Thanks for confirming! : )

So now i have been thinking about this song and think they should make sure this is played live and then they can do the instrumental through once and lead into Somewhere Quiet....I think that would be cool...I may do some editing to have that myself! : )

They joy of this particular version only goes to underscore the brilliance of "Summer Days (and Summer Nights!). In so many ways, that was the last real "sun and fun" LP of original music the band produced--at least under the original formula. As the bandmembers themselves have said, Brian's music got much more complex after that. Still, if you look at the track listing of that LP, it just knocks your socks off in terms of great, classic music. "Somewhere Quiet" is a wonderful trip down memory lane, and a recognition of one of the Beach Boys' truly classic albums that reflected all that is wonderful about the band.

Always wished "Summer Means New Love" had words. No need to be impatient, just wait 50 years for No Pier Pressure to be released with this gem on it! What a beautiful instrumental it was then; what a beautiful song it is now.

One of the BB documentaries ("American Band" I think) has the group harmonizing on Summer Means New Love. From what I recall the snippet is beautiful--no lyrics. Time to release that one from the vaults.

Not to worry R Michael.

The BB 60th Anniversary in 2021 or 2022 will surely allow us hardcore fans to fork out $150 for another six CD box set with a CD of rarities such as this, and five discs of newly remixed versions of songs we've bought 17 times!!!

[smile]

I wish they just would've followed The Beatles's lead an released an anthology set of unreleased material.

Sorry for the venom.....lack of sleep from driving 100 miles both ways to see a Mr. Brian Wilson last night in Philly.  A++++++++ concert.

But will there be a practice session version of "Help Me Rhonda" at a sound check with talking in the background? and sung by Bruce?  That's what I'm waiting for!     Welcome back, kds.!

Thanks John.  Stayed away for fear of setlist spoilers for Brian's tour.

For the 60 boxset, somebody will mix the BB Today and single versions of Help Me R(h)onda to create a brand new hybrid version.  It'll be called "Help Me Rhonda (Indominus Rex mix)."

How about if Joe Thomas adds some new age lyrics, something contemporary like "Help me Rhonda, yeah!, so I can get on with my life" ?

Yes, John.  Hearing Surf's Up was the highlight of many many highlights at The Mann last night.

That was one of there songs that I was shocked to hear along with Wake the World and Busy Doin Nothing.  All great, welcome surprises.

The other big surprise was how much I liked Barbara Ann.  It really is a good live song.

ha.  you gotta call em as you see em.   My own tony winery site near where homes cost over a million$ with only about 1,200 sq. feet, etc., rocked out to 'Little Deuce Coupe.'   Partial standing o.   Then of course, "I Get Around" got the full standing O.  So what do I know?
