My first [of many...like more than I can tally] Beach Boys related purchases.  The first piece of vinyl I ever bought.  Or are we talking the Little Deuce Coupe/Endless Summer album version?  The single I liked...quite a bit.  The l.p. version MUCH less so.  [It was disappointing and lacked the energy which made the 45 rpm version work.]

So in spite of "Whennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn" and that irritating nasal thing...I dug it.  The B side sealed the deal.  It was a life-changing purchase.  No regrets.  In 1963...it was a great little record and In My Room blew my mind.  T'was a terrific follow-up double sided-combo to Surfin' USA/Shut Down and Surfer Girl/Little Deuce Coupe.  The Beach Boys had not only arrived...they had established their credentials.

I remember hearing this song when I was a little kid, long before I become a Beach Boys addict. Like Lee, I like the 45 version best. It's a great song!

It speaks volumes for the sheer volume of quality material The Beach Boys were putting out during this time period that this song often gets overlooked.

The single version with The Honeys is pure gold.
