Hi all,

The song for this week is All Summer Long from the album of the same name.  It is a great song that lists some things to do over the summer.  Fabulous words and harmonies.  I intend to have fun all summer long.

The title track to IMO the best of the early surf / car / beach albums. All Summer Long, as soon as I hear that first xylophobe note, puts me in a great mood. Probably more of a summer anthem than any othet in the Boys catalog.

A feel good summer classic! You can't hear this and not feel good and feel summer. Brian still performs it and I love it when he does. From the first time I heard this way back when it has been a favorite. It just makes you feel good.

No argument whatsoever!  A great choice for your summer pick, Mary.

Back then...when I went away for the summer I was up 2 1/2 hours north of Toronto.  NO decent radio to be heard.  Then driving down to the house from our cottage with my Dad I heard this one on the radio some time in late August.  Why?  It wasn't the hit.  'They' went from I Get Around/Don't Worry Baby to Wendy to When I Grow Up to Dance Dance Dance.  [and in THAT order]

But a top 50 [at that time] station was playing All Summer Long in the later summer of 1964.  The next day I owned the album.

Great song/Great album/Great memories.  It was the beginning of what would quickly become the transition.  Yup...there were surf boards and summer...and cars and summer...and girls and summer...and, increasingly, the potential for romance too.  I was beginning ***my***transition from getting bruises to wearing 'BRUT'.  The maturation process had kicked into gear...and holding hands and seeing her standing there were already beyond passe.  Great vocal arrangements from Brian.  Excellent group effort.  The time had come, though, to begin to unveil some new lead vocalists.

And they would.

I have a soft spot for this early album and song.
