Hello Brian Wilson Community, I was T's friend, well, only for about 56 years. T was a self-described music Nerd with a vast and deep knowledge of rock and its fringes. (For a time his interest was seeking out bands that had regional hits that never got national airplay). This battle of the bands was a serious and deeply thought out, very important thing to him. Thus I would like to thank all of you for this most appropriate tribute to T.   His friend, R3

Thanks very much to everyone who voted in t's week, it was good to be able to share a few things, crack open a few secrets (like the true identity of that whirly buzzy robot) and enjoy some good t related music. I won't thank you individually this week, I've barely managed to keep score given current events.

Thanks R3 for coming on board. We appreciated Tom around here very much.

I'm sure t would have been happy with the gold placing this week.

GOLD - The Kinks, You Really Got Me. With a total of 41 points, the Kinks took an early lead and maintained it right the way through the week. It was I that gave the song its solitary tin placing. (7 Gold, 2 Silver, 3 Bronze, 1 Tin)

SILVER - The Beach Boys. Just enough wind to chime into second place, with 33 dingy-lingy points. (2 Gold, 5 Silver, 4 Bronze, 2 Tin)

BRONZE - The Lovin' Spoonful nearly dropped the jam. But with a respectable 32 points and three Gold placings, they put up a good battle. (3 Gold, 4 Silver, 2 Bronze, 4 Tin)

TIN - XTC. Not for many, it seems. They didn't quite take you there, but I know t thought this was a rollicking good song. With 24 points, I think they did okay (should have brought Nigel out). (1 Gold - me again!, 2 Silver, 4 Bronze, 6 Tin)

Thirteen very important voters.

A final song for t this week.

XTC and Van Morrison now share the record for the most appearances of any act that haven’t delivered a play-off contender as of yet with eight each.

As Larry stated, t hosted 30 battles in nine years. He made a huge contribution to our game and is missed not only on a personal level, but this game is the poorer for his absence.

Please continue to support your hosts.

Doh ......sorry I missed the vote ! Too much other stuff going on .  Wouldn't have made a difference though as You Really Got Me would easily have been my Gold .

I missed this one, but my order would have been Spoonful, Kinks, BBs, XTC. Meanwhile, here's a new video of John Sebastian with the Mona Lisa Twins:
