This features characters from an American TV show called "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend".

What's interesting about it is that they start with surf music and then transition to the Pet Sounds/Smile era ("you enter a more experimental era of your music career"). One of them barks a couple times like Banana or Louie!

Unfortunately, they then evoke "Kokomo" with LA suburbs in place of Caribbean islands ("oh no, the car ride has gone on so long that we're now in the later, more commercial stages of our career"). Whoever made this video knew what they were doing.

Ha! This is great! Love the Kokomo bit.

Thanks, Larry.

Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne, That Thing You Do) works on the show, so likely had a lot to do with it.

That explains it. Fountains of Wayne made some excellent music.

I gather it's actually a musical comedy program and they've done parodies or videos like this before. The person who sent it to me said they "finally" got around to doing the Beach Boys.
