I usually don't post the passings but he lived not so far away in Mansfield.  I never knew that he graduated from the first EO Smith.

Only two seasons on tv?  Seemed longer.

"Endearingly offbeat bassist."

I would have expected a little more media attention around this.

Probyn Gregory wrote an appreciation in the Washington Post.

I would have referred to Brian as a "former" Beach Boy. I also think the Monkees TV show appealed more to the younger baby boomers. Probyn was 10 when it premiered.

An appreciation from Rolling Stone:

This is very cool, Larry!  My wife and I love the Washington Post, reading the Kindle app stories most everyday - but NOT Friday, when this story appeared.

Though not enamored like Probyn, The Monkees were part of this kid's life when they hit the scene.

I think it's way cool how Probyn, Darian, and others in the band find time to play with '60s icons.  True gentlemen musicians honoring the music of our youth.

Thanks, Larry, for that.  So cool that Probyn is involved AND that he wrote this.  ^^^^^^^
The music stands in that the writing was solid and the musicianship, well we know who and of course the voices and personalities of the band.  More from NPR:
https://www.npr.org/2019/02/21/696864784/peter-tork-of-the-monkees-dies-at-77

"As recently as 2016, Tork marveled at the power of nostalgia and the band's ability to draw a crowd, even when most of the music was produced with the aid of side musicians.

"This is not a band," Tork told the Telegraph. "It's an entertainment operation whose function is Monkee music. It took me a while to get to grips with that but what great music it turned out to be! And what a wild and wonderful trip it has taken us on!""

Cindy had mentioned that Peter Frampton has a muscular degeneration and this will be his final tour. These are special people who have touched us with the music that lives on in our own souls.
