Wonderful movie and we enjoyed it immensely. One scene in particular stands out and that was the pool scene where Brian was in the deep end, treading water and the guys were sitting "safely" on the edge of the pool in the shallow end . Brian wanted them to "join" him in the deep end but the guys were having none of that

A very clever metaphor , dont you think ???

Oh, yes...agree with that like Ang.  Also, loved Dennis' line "We're too shallow for the deep end, Brian."
Many subtleties within that movie.  To me, it seems the writers et al knew this movie was meant for his fans.  But cool enough for everyone, once the dialog stops and the music - that powerful/beautiful music - starts up.

L&M wasn't perfect, but perfect at times - and a real keeper.
